He is doing great! He is perfect! He is smart, he is gentle, he is energetic, he is sensitive, and soft and fluffy, and has already learned to avoid my adult cat, and he is not clingy but he likes to follow us around. He is sociable, and he especially likes my 16 year old who especially likes him and is treating Dylan like any good Dad would. .. Great job! and Thanks.

Just wanted to let you know that the trip home with Jake went smoothly. He whimpered a little for the first half hour, then we decided maybe he had to pee, so we found a place to stop and let him out and he was fine after that. He let us know a couple more times before we got home. Had to poop once and we found a side road to let him out on and he got into some stick tights in the ditch, so he has a few burrs on his underside at the present time. Been taking out a few at a time. He just stretched out in the back of the van and slept most of the way home. Made it around 5pm. He has just settled right in like he has always been here. We had to play fetch with him after we got home. The picture is typical of him on the way home, the others were taken out in the front yard this morning. He went with me to feed the stock this morning and never left my side the whole time. We will keep you posted on his progress. Thanks for providing us with a very well adjusted puppy. Time will tell if he will work stock, but if not, he will be a faithful companion.

Poppy is doing really well! She acts like she has always been here.  Shows interest in the birds and sheep but does respond when told "no".  We love her.

Finally got around to sending some more Jake pictures. He is really growing, weighs 15# now. He is supposed to be an outside dog, but as you can see from the pictures, he is spending way too much time in the house. But he is so-oo cute. He has already alleviated any concerns we had about him being willing to work cattle. We have to have him on a leash or carry him when he is around the cows or he will get right after them, and this was at ten weeks, so our main concern now is to keep him from getting hurt. The cows are pretty docile at this time of year, but they do not appreciate a ten week old pup barking and dashing at them. He is definitely bold and a little hard headed when it comes to the come command, but is very smart and learned the sit and down commands almost instantly. We will keep you updated. Just wanted to let you know how happy we are with Jake and how much he is loved. He will be everything we had hoped for and more. Hope everything is going well with you and your family.

Poppy the puppy is growing like a weed and doing just fine. She is very sweet and learning quickly. She got kicked by a steer a couple days ago and it improved her willingness to listen to me!! She and the little fat pug play together now - very cute. It is interesting to me that she seems to feel her place it outside, watching the world go by and keeping track of things, instead of inside - where the pug will always be found. Fun stuff to think about.

Just wanted to give you an update on Jake at 3 1/2 mo. We couldn't be happier with him. He is bold, friendly, very smart and at this stage still a little hard headed. We have had English Shepherds around for 30 years, and have never had one express so much cow herding instinct at such a young age. He is going to be a low heeler and has already nipped a couple of cows in the heel that didn't move quick enough. We normally wouldn't let a dog of this age work, but he works quick and low, and under control (somewhat) and we don't want to miss the opportunity to do some training while the cows don't have calves on them. As recently as a week ago he wanted to take a swipe at every cow he got near, but he is listening better every day as he outgrows his puppy stage. He had his last distemper shot this week and he weighed 23 pounds. We still have to carry him to his outside pen at night, because he would prefer to be a full time house dog. I'm sending you a couple of pictures of him moving cows. He isn't hard to put into action, but a little harder for me to catch him on camera. Thanks again for an outstanding dog.
