GABBY

  Gabby is a delightful dog.  She is always happy and always wants to please you.  She is an excellent mother and also has a strong desire to foster the young.  As a young dog, she loved to have Corgi puppies lay all over her.  She would play with them and baby-sit them for hours.

As a working dog, Gabby usually is Tessa's (our alpha female at 14 years of age) back-up.  Without Tessa to direct her, she will move the cattle and is willing to get aggressive if she is asked.  But she is generally a very soft worker.  She never chases stock.  She never bothers chickens.  She never tries to intimidate younger dogs.  She is very social but non-aggressive.   She has an excellent on-off switch. 

However, she is alert to visitors and tells us of their arrival.  She has extraordinary manners.  She will come and sit beside people that she would like to pet her.  She doesn't make an move toward them or touch them in any way.  She patiently waits for them to acknowledge her and give her a pat on the head.  This makes her an excellent dog with young children.
